Our Purpose

The MHA Recovery Services Foundation was created as a public nonprofit organization to supplement and

stabilize funding for MHA Recovery Services.

 

The Foundation:

  • Supports culturally grounded and community-based initiatives

  • Funds services not reimbursable through Medicaid or traditional grants

  • Leverages private philanthropy and corporate partnerships

  • Builds long-term sustainability through reserve and endowment development

Pending 501(c)(3) application with fiscal sponsorship through the North Dakota Community Foundation

The MHA Recovery Foundation is governed by a dedicated Board of Directors committed to strong leadership, financial integrity, and long-term sustainability. The Board provides strategic oversight, ensures compliance with applicable federal, state, and tribal regulations, and upholds policies that promote transparency and ethical stewardship. Board members service as fiduciaries of the Foundation's mission, guiding responsible investment, grantmaking, and resource development to strengthen recovery, prevention, and culturally grounded healing services for the communities we serve.
